Cheerleading World Champion, National College Association x2 Champion
"Sometimes you have to chase your goals around the world." -Cameron Barbour
My name is Cameron Barbour. I am a University of Louisville cheerleader. I started cheering when I was 8 years old in the mix of playing some other sports. By the time I was 10 I had forgotten all about any other sport because I was so in love with this idea called cheerleading.
Everything about it, the performance, the hard, work, the countless hours, the injuries, the fear, the trust, and the family. All of these things have made me the athlete that I am today, which contributes to me helping other people fall in love with the sport too.
Hearing the crowd going crazy at the end of your performance, so loud that you cant hear yourself think. That is a feeling like no other to me. Its a feeling that cannot compare to anything. When I was 16 years old I decided I wanted to experience my love for cheerleading somewhere else, somewhere bigger, and better.
So I moved my life from Raleigh, NC to California. Best decision I have ever made. It made me become not only a better athlete but person as well. I had to get out of my comfort zone, meet new people, and excel at a high competing level.
These decisions later led to me accomplishing all of my goals as a cheerleader, which was becoming a World Champion Winner. After those long 10 years of my life, I decided I wasn't quit done yet. I knew being apart of the Louisville cheer team had been my dream since I first saw them on stage as a kid. So that is what I did.
All the years of training and pushing myself to be the best athlete I could allowed me to make the team and win the College Nationals. I am so thankful for the friends, family, and drive cheerleading has given me.
